Fault in Our Stars by John Green

The Fault in our stars is a beautifully crafted novel which throws light on the bitter and sweet aspects of love and human life. Hazel Grace,16 year old was diagnosed with cancer.Cancer Support group was one amongst that her parents made to add happiness to Hazel's life.It was here that she meets Augustus Waters(Gus), 17 year old who had lost his leg due to cancer, but he had recovered from the disease.Augustus and Hazel fall in love with each other and the book revolves around their intense love.Gus was a beautiful twist that happened in Hazel's life.

'The Imperial Affliction' the book that was suggested to Gus by Hazel, life of its author Peter Van Houten, his Secretary Lidewij, Gus's efforts to get the ending of story from Van Houten, Gus sacrificing his wish to take his love to Amsterdam to meet Peter, Gus's fear of oblivion, the irony in 'I am sorry' posts on dead people's social media wall, Hazel's thoughts of her being a grenade(pain), Gus trying to write a eulogy for Hazel, the emotions that Gus and Hazel undergoes after the disease relapses for Gus...etc-there are lot of such moments in the book that makes one 'think' of this little event called life. What I loved the most about this book is the ending note of eulogy that Gus wrote for Hazel-"You don't get to choose if you get hurt in this world, but you do have some say in who hurts you".

Hazel's parents, Gus's parents, their life and concern for their children, Support group, Gus's friend Isaac are other important characters that add life to the book. Though its Hazel's story; Gus was what kept me attracted to the book. He was a true hero who loved his girl despite knowing the fact that she could turn out to be a grenade in his life. The novel explores the beautiful yet tragic event of being alive and being in love. One of the saddest book I have come across.

It is a heart breaking story which takes you on an emotional roller coaster. Happiness, love, humour, pain, sorrow, fear and much more have been incorporated beautifully into this story. Well done John Green..:). The novel will make you laugh, cry, think and pray.If you are depressed and down, then this is a book that you gotta read; for it shows how fortunate we are..:).

Happy Reading!!!
